Shawn Patenaude Law is a law firm in Preeceville and Yorkton practicing in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, corporate, business law, family law and general litigation.
The Yorkton office, which opened in January of 2012, is conveniently located in the newly constructed Sage Centre at 9-259 Hamilton Road in Yorkton. The location offers ground-level accessibility and ample parking. Inside, you will be awestruck by the magnificence of the office with its twelve foot ceilings and eight foot doors complimented with vibrant art and charming décor.
The Preeceville office opened in 2021 and is located in the former TD Bank building at 24 Main Street North. The office retains some of the old bank feel but offers some new charm as well.
Shawn took the necessary measurements to ensure improved office productivity by incorporating new software programs and procedures in his practice. You will find these methods to be just as environmentally and economically friendly as his team of staff. The digital ‘paperless’ office is an accurate and time saving practice which (in some cases) effectively lowers the costs in legal fees. All documents are scanned and stored electronically (except where original signatures are required). Your trust is the foundation of Shawn’s practice. Be reassured that client confidentiality is secure with controlled access, encryption, and off-site back-up in which he has made great efforts to facilitate.
Shawn’s calm demeanour, patience and strong work ethic are attributed to growing up in a large family in small town Saskatchewan. Possessing a natural balance of charm and logic when communicating, makes it easy for him to establish personal relationships based on trust with his clients .
Shawn is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. In addition to his law degree, Shawn holds a commerce degree with studies in Economics and Financial Planning.
Although Shawn’s current practice includes a relatively small amount of court work, Shawn has had the opportunity to participate in several commercial litigation cases including two landmark wins decided by the Supreme Court of Canada ( Bank of Montreal v. Innovation Credit Union, 2010 SCC 47; Royal Bank of Canada v. Radius Credit Union, 2010 SCC 48).
Outside of professional responsibilities, Shawn’s favourite pastime is spending time with his beautiful wife Kristy and their three adorable, busy and growing children. Chances are, if you spend time in the Yorkton area, you just may see him creating an ‘up-do’ hairstyle at his daughter's dance class, cheering loudly for the Terriers at the Gallagher centre, getting his butt whooped on the golf course by his son, or enjoying a ‘date night’ out with his lovely wife at a local restaurant or theatre.
People are drawn to Shawn because he genuinely is, “Yorkton’s friendly, young neighbourhood lawyer.”
